Corner Brook, August 10, 2023 – Brewed Awakening Café & Roasting Co. is thrilled to announce its own awakening and a new era of growth and community partnership. With an unwavering commitment to a “Collaborate, Don’t Compete,” approach, the company aims to redefine how small businesses operate, placing love, efficiency, sustainability, and resilience at the forefront.
The Team
The new expansion model is being created and driven by an exceptional team; Wayne Keeping, the newest partner who has a lifetime of experience in sales in both small and large scale sales, production and logistics businesses, Patrick Brewer, who has been a partner for quite some time, and has been working with Brewed almost since its inception; and Dawn Leja, operations manager and the driver of our baked goods, food production and staffing who will ensure our customers continue to receive the high quality products and exceptional service during our transition. The team is rounded out with the promotion of Nicole Hillier, senior barista at the West Street location as the new Manager, Whole Bean Sales. Her passion for sharing her coffee love in a way to create meaningful relationships makes her an amazing addition to the management team.
The Paradigm Shift
Wayne reported, “The results of our recent survey were pretty clear. You told us you want to develop your ‘inner barista,’ so we are driven to ensure we serve you by expanding our roasting capacity and making our beans more readily available to you at home through grocery stores and other retail outlets. For Andrea and me, the most important quality of the unfolding company plan is ‘If it’s not leading with love, we are not going to follow that path’.” With that love in mind, the company will make some immediate pivots.
The most noticeable shift will be the upcoming closure of Brewed on Bernard, right at the end of summer. This location will no longer meet space requirements for growth. While the company will feel the loss of this beloved space, the staff are embracing the future with enthusiasm and will continue serving their valued customers at the West Street and Grenfell Campus locations. They invite anyone and everyone to come for the coffee, stay for the love; the same atmosphere that has defined Brewed Awakening; a vibe which is catalyst for all the things we as humans can create, accomplish, and heal, powered by a high quality pastry, locally-roasted coffee and love.
The Brewed team wishes to extend a deep gratitude to the loyal patrons and baristas (past and present) who continue to make Brewed a vibrant part of the community. From musical events and featured local artists, to those working, writing and laughing; the countless study sessions and meetings and those who go to socialize; the ideas and dreams live on.
